Scott Saffold, MD

Dr. Saffold believes that one of his primary roles is to help patients make intelligent decisions about their health care. Says Dr. Saffold, “Very often the difference between adequate health care and excellent health care depends upon whether the provider cares about their patient’s well-being.” It is his philosophy that patient/customer service will ultimately improve health care delivery. At Chesapeake Bay ENT, Dr. Saffold lives his belief that people in all communities have the right to expect technologically advanced, state-of-the-art health care.

Dr. Saffold attended the University of California at Berkeley as an undergraduate. He attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. His general surgery internship was completed at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Scott Saffold, MD, is a diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Saffold spent two years as a National Institute of Health Research Fellow at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. There he participated in developing immune-based strategies for the treatment of head and neck cancer. Dr. Saffold then sought his Otolaryngology training at Oregon Health Sciences University. There he received advanced-level training from nationally recognized experts in the fields of OtologyEndoscopic Sinus Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, and Head and Neck Radiology. Dr. Saffold chose the field of general otolaryngology to maximize the scope of services he could provide to his community. His practice allows him to practice both medicine and surgery. He sees both pediatric and adult patients.

Dr. Saffold spends his leisure time enjoying his favorite activities – including running and reading – with his wife, Detra, their son, Jacob, and their daughter, Josephine.
